The South Brunswick Vikings PAL Cheer program is a community that is proud to provide opportunities for our youth athletes to learn, develop friendships, and become part of the exciting and fulfilling word of cheer! The Vikings are a part of Pop Warner, which is a National non-profit organization that provides youth football, cheer and dance. Pop Warner participants are student athletes who develop not only skills in their sport, but also life-long values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and a strong work ethic. Pop Warner teams adhere to stringent guidelines of safety, from the equipment used and the rules followed, to the volunteer screening and training processes. Every child in the program participates, safety is emphasized, and children learn to engage in healthy competition.

Regions: Sunday, Oct. 29, Sat., Nov. 4, and Sun., Nov. 5 (must qualify at local CJPW competition to participate)
These competitions all take place at the CURE Insurance Arena in Trenton.

  • Junior Tiny Mites (3-4 year olds) do NOT go to competition.
  • Tiny Mites will exhibition at the local CJPW competition on Oct. 15, but will not perform at any other competitions past that one.

Practices

The Pop Warner Cheer season starts August 1, 6:00 pm at Rowland Park.

In August, Tiny Mites and older teams will practice 3–4 evenings a week. After Labor Day, they will drop down to 2–3 days a week. Whenever possible, practices will be held at indoor facilities. Locations and schedules TBD.

Junior Tiny Mites practice once a week.

Practices in the month leading up to competition are mandatory. There will be a dress rehearsal/showcase approximately one week before the local competition.

Games

Cheerleaders cheer for the football teams and follow the football schedule. Games are usually on Sundays, and occasionally may be on Saturdays instead. Half of the games are at our home field at Rowland Park, and half are away in nearby towns. Games are weekly starting in September, and run into November. The end date is dependent on how well the teams play! The game schedule is TBD by our league, which is Central Jersey Pop Warner (CJPW).

**Junior Tiny Mites will only cheer for home games held at Rowland Park.

Parent meeting

A parent meeting will be held in the spring. Please be sure to check your email for upcoming information!
